Here’s One Tip to Help You Overcome a Lack of Motivation

When you’re feeling unmotivated, it can be tough to get started on anything. Before you quit, we have good news. Here’s the best advice and one tip that will help you overcome a lack of motivation.

Here’s the thing, we’ve all been there – feeling unmotivated and not knowing what to do about it. You might be tempted to give up, throw in the towel, and call it quits.

But don’t do that!

Giving up is the easy way out and it’s definitely not going to help you achieve your goals. So what can you do instead?

Listen to the video here to jumpstart your motivation.

The day is today and the time is now.

There have been some really cool people in my life who’ve taught me a lot about acting now.

My mentor, Kevin Harrington, with whom I co-wrote Mentor to Millions, actually wrote a book called “Act Now” a few years ago.

Now my very first professional mentor was Zig Ziglar, he is famous for saying,

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” – Zig Ziglar

Ultimately, I think what they were saying is that you don’t have to get it perfect, but you do have to get it started.

It’s a philosophy that I have adopted in my own life. Even if it’s not perfect, I focus on getting it started and acting now.

Learn it and teach it

I’ve tried to teach my children the whole concept of maintaining their motivation by starting now – and not waiting (for the perfect moment).

How do you teach a child to act now?

How do you teach a teenager that they don’t have to get it perfect?

They just have to get it going.

Here’s the thing, I have a teenager right now and she decided that she needed to get a job.

This teenager sat down and said that she crafted out the perfect job, the job that she ultimately wanted to have, but guess what?

That job wasn’t coming here way (not yet, anyway).

A week went by, two weeks went by, three weeks went by, a month went by, and next her bank account kept getting lower until it was almost nothing.

All of a sudden she contacted me and said, “Dad, I got a job interview at Walmart.”.

I told her that this was fantastic and great news.

So, she goes to the interview and she got the job!

There’s nothing wrong with working for Walmart, but you can probably guess that wasn’t her dream job that she was looking for.

She, then told me that she was not gonna take the job because it was not the job that she wanted.

I said, “hold on there. I wanna tell you something in my experience, and this is it’s easier to get the job you want when you have a job – than if you don’t have a job.”.

Next, I told her to accept the job at Walmart and to continue to look for that dream job, the job you really want, but in the meantime, I want you to have that job.

Learn to lead your family with confidence and watch your most important relationships transform!

Act now, don’t wait for perfection

In fact, what happened here is that when she took the job at Walmart and kept interviewing for her dream jobs, she finally got offered exactly what she wanted.

This is precisely what I was talking about.

If she sat back and waited for the perfect job to come along, I’m not sure it would’ve ever come along.

The fact that she stayed motivated and got it going, it opened up opportunities because she became employable.

She knew that she could have any job.

She didn’t get it perfect, but she did get it going.

That’s the concept.

When I say act now, I mean, you may have an idea and it’s not the perfect idea, but it’s enough of an idea to act on it.

Overcome a lack of motivation by acting now and getting started.

This is exactly what I needed. I’ve been trying to start a blog or something similar to reach out to people. I used to have a ‘sort of so called’ website, but with limited knowledge of what I was doing, it fell apart. Now I keep thinking if or how I can use the domain or if I should pursue a different vehicle for a blog. Then there is the question of which one would be simple for me to learn. I’m not asking for answers, just want to let you know that hearing this story of your daughter’s experience of trying to get the perfect job has made me take another serious look at JUST DO IT! It’s not carved in stone, but can change as I learn. Thanks for writing this article.
